'All tough games,' says Aldridge

Chief Operating Officer Paul Aldridge has given us his reaction to the UEFA Cup group stages draw he has been a part of this morning.

And speaking to mcfc.co.uk from UEFA Headquarters in Nyon after the first part of the procedure Paul said: "There were some big names in this draw and every group was a tough one but we're up against good teams from Spain, France, Germany and Holland.

"Mark [Hughes] will know a fair bit about all of the teams we're up against already, and that's a big plus for us, but they'll all be tough games.

"We're still busy with the process of meeting up with the other clubs in our group and sorting out the matchdays. We just need to work out where we are when and then we can start looking forward to playing the games."

It has been confirmed that Schalke and Racing Santander will be the two teams City will travel away to face with FC Twente and Paris Saint-Germain making the journey over to Manchester.

Former England boss McClaren is excited by the prospect of pitting his wits against Mark Hughes, saying: "I've just come back to England to catch up on football here, and the signings City have made are massive and they are expected to do very well. It should be a fantastic occasion for us."
