The Blues secured their place as one of 40 teams at this stage of the competition after seeing off Cypriot side AC Omonia 4-2 on aggregate last Thursday night.
Mark Hughes' side are in Pot 3 of the draw due to their UEFA coefficient ranking, below Tottenham Hotspur who are in Pot 1, but higher than other English sides Aston Villa and current FA Cup holders Portsmouth in Pot 4.
City can draw some big guns with AC Milan, Ajax, Dinamo Zagreb and Standard Liege just an example of the type of group the Blues' could be in.
At this stage of the competition each group will consist of five teams and every team will play four games, two at home and two away, subsequently each team will have one of the five game days off.
Please note that despite UEFA Cup Matchday dates already being agreed, City's four fixture dates will not be decided on immediately, and mcfc.co.uk will announce dates and details as and when confirmed.
The winners, runners-up and third-placed teams from each section then advance to the last 32 where they are joined by the eight third-placed clubs from the UEFA Champions League. From then on the traditional two-legged knockout format resumes, until the final.
