The 35-year-old was making only his third Barclays Premier League start of the season and reflected after Stephen Ireland’s late leveller: “Everyone’s very disappointed. Going 1-0 up after 10 minutes, with man sent off too and then not win the game, maybe we were a bit lucky at the end to get a draw.”
But despite Habib Beye’s 12th minute red card for a foul on Robinho, which brought about the Blues’ opener from the penalty spot, it was the hosts who had two large slices of luck en route to taking a 2-1 lead midway through the second half.
