Brazilian striker Jo was forced to miss Sunday’s game against Stoke with a bout of tonsillitis, but the game itself saw Ched Evans forced off with a knee injury, while Richard Dunne struggled with a chest complaint.
Speaking at Tuesday morning’s press conference, City boss Mark Hughes said:
“We are checking them again today after they came in yesterday, but both Ched & Dunnie are still a bit sore. Ched was moving a bit better, but Dunnie has had this bang to his chest looked at again.
“It happened a few games ago and has been impeding his breathing, and we wanted to make sure there was no underlying problem with it. We’ve been reassured on that, so hopefully by the time the game comes it will have eased and he will be OK. We’ll see how he is again today.
“Jo’s still under the weather, he was not able to come in at all on Monday but we will check him over today, although he is not too well at the moment.”
The Manager also dismissed a newspaper story linking Danny Sturridge with a loan move to QPR, saying:
“My view is that some players would benefit from going out on loan, and some of the younger ones have gone out in the last few months. But Daniel is playing for the first team and benefitting from playing with world-class players here.”
