Hart happy with UEFA Cup progress

After another fairly quiet night, Joe Hart has reflected on the 4-2 aggregate victory over AC Omonia, as City secured a place in the hat for Tuesday’s UEFA Cup group stage draw.

Speaking to mcfc.co.uk after last night’s 2-1 win, Hart said: “I thought as a team we did well and did the job. Again personally, I’ve not had much to do, but I’ve let a goal in and I don’t like that.”

Second half goals from Elano and Shaun Wright-Phillips saw off the Cypriots despite that late consolation and Joe added: “It’s a great achievement for us to make it through to the group stages and we’ve had some tough ties to get there.

“The previous round went right down to the wire and Omonia were no mugs, so it was a great performance to get the result in Cyprus. It made it a lot easier in the second leg.

Now all eyes will be on Tuesday’s draw which starts at 11am (UK time) from UEFA Headquarters in Switzerland.

And Joe concluded: “When the draw’s made hopefully we’ll get a nice group so we can advance and keep the fans happy by giving them a couple of good away trips!”
