The winger limped off at half-time during Bulgaria’s goalless draw with Georgia in Tbilisi having played the full 90 minutes of last Saturday’s game against Italy, his first full game since having picked up a hamstring injury against FC Midtjylland in late August.
Robinho is also an injury concern, a thigh strain leading to City’s record signing leaving Brazil’s 0-0 with Colombia in the 63rd minute.
Mark Hughes is having to play the waiting game on both players, but has confirmed to MCFC.co.uk that Petrov is already being looked at after having flown back overnight.
Mark told us, “Martin’s already with us and being assessed, but we need to wait to find out if he will be available for Monday.
“Robinho will be travelling back from South America today and will be back with us on Friday, so we will have to wait before we can take a look at him and make a judgement on his injury.”
