The Manager spent a year on loan with the famous Bavarian club in 1987/88, and is still clearly a fan of how football is operated in Germany.
He says, "I had a great time, it was only for a short period, around six months to eight months, but I really enjoyed my time here. I have always come back to Germany for pre-season because the facilities here are always fantastic and everything is well organised.
"I have good memories and the teams I have brought here in the summer have done well in the training camps here so I'm looking to add to those with a positive result."
Tonight's opponents have a decent European pedigree and its regular games against top-quality teams from the continent that the Manager says is a must for the Club.
"We're young in European experience both as a team and a club, and this will help us develop on both fronts. We’re still in the early stages, we have ambitions to better but we have fantastic and ambitious owners.
"Big European nights are something we want to experience on a regular basis, so anything we can take from this year's UEFA Cup campaign can help us in that respect. We want to see if we can go all the way this year because the ambition of the club is huge now," he adds.
