The Zimbabwean striker turned in a typically selfless performance in Saturday's 3-0 win over Arsenal, and his displays over the last couple of weeks have made it easy to forget that he was out with a serious thigh injury from early in pre-season until this month.
That's not something he sees as a problem, and looking ahead to a week that also sees us travel to Germany for the UEFA Cup tie against Schalke 04 he says, "I think that I came back just at the right time because now everybody knows what to do. When you have a new manager and new players it can be difficult, and a good manager needs time. By the time I came back, everyone including me knew their role.
"It's not good to be in a dressing room that's losing, we need to realise we have had to pick ourselves up. Sometimes, if you win games like we did against Arsenal, you think you are the best but we have got to work hard to win the next one.
"This week will be the toughest week of the season so far, but the win was the perfect way to prepare for it. Three wins this week would be great!"
Benjani became an instant hero when he scored in last February's famous derby win at Old Trafford, but looking back to the impact of his goal he adds:
"I didn't realise at the time how important it would be, so I hope I can get another one next week!"
