Goals either side of the break from Benjani & Stephen Ireland, along with a great defensive display from the whole team, saw City to their second win the group stages, and speaking afterwards the Manager said:
"I thought we were really comfortable and knew when to break, so as a consequence Schalke were always on the back foot. It was a very accomplished performance."
City are now on six points in Group A, not yet mathematically qualified but very near to it, and Mark continued by saying:
"It's not absolutely certain, but I think there has only been one team that's not gone through on six points. We have a home game to come and we think we can get a result in that one.
"We're in great shape and would be very disappointed not to go through from this position.
"It's been a great week, starting off against Arsenal, we've had a great performance here and it leads nicely into a certain game at the weekend!"
