The Manager also made a presentation to the board meeting held at the City of Manchester Stadium on Sunday morning, which he says generated positive ideas on moving the Club forward.
Mark says, “It was a good meeting, and I had the Chairman come over to my house for dinner with my family on Saturday night as well, which was a really positive two or three hours. We had some good discussions and we just relaxed in each other’s company.
“The board meeting on Sunday morning went very positively and I met the other new members of the board. Everybody understands that this is a very exciting time for us, we are all giving our input and we know what positive things need to be done to make things happen. I was very pleased with the meetings I had at the weekend.”
The Chairman was making his first visit to a match since the takeover of the Club in late September, and the Manager says he is happy that after meeting him the new board’s patient approach will pay off in the January transfer window.
Mark continues, “The Chairman understands where we are, and of course ideally we would prefer to have positive results at the moment. The quality of our football has been good, there have been few occasions when I’ve been disappointed with what we’ve produced. The Chairman, and everybody at the Club, understands where we are and that things will not happen overnight.
“We’ll address things and get more quality into the squad, because that is what we need to do to move forward. At the moment you have to say that things are a little bit hysterical, people need to calm down a little bit and we will get points on the board. That’s a given with the quality of players that we have, but we’re calm and positive.”
With City being the centre of attention for some sections of the media this week, Mark also thinks that the Chairman is well aware of how focus can move from club to club so quickly.
“He has an inkling and understanding of how it works, I think he will see that there are issues outside of the team that can have a negative effect. He’s aware of that, the owner is aware of that and so are we.
“We just have to concentrate on what goes on out on the pitch and get positive results. We have good players, but collectively and individually we have let ourselves down on occasions and conceded goals. It’s been difficult but we have good players and we will turn it around.”
