The Blues skipper told us: “It’s been really good so far. We’ve got a couple of games coming up away from home in interesting stadiums and we want to keep playing for as long as we can in the competition.
“The home games are going to be vital for us, especially the first game in the group, we want to get off to a decent start and hopefully put down a bit of a marker for the other teams.”
And Twente did that last time out as an early Romano Denneboom goal was enough to beat Real Racing Club in Enschede.
The common consensus at this stage of the competition is that six points are enough to see a team out of the group and Dunne added: “That’s it. It probably is only six points and you’re through, so the home games are vitally important, if you do get the those wins then come the away games you can settle and take a draw. At home though we need to go and win the games.”
Tonight's UEFA Cup game provides some respite to Premier League life at present and Richard stated: “We’re going into the game on a couple of bad results and the pressure for us is to go and win the game.
“We don’t want to have a week were we’ve lost three games so we need to go and win and perform well to get the confidence up with Tottenham coming on Sunday.
“We need to win games at the moment because we haven’t had the results over the last five weeks or so.
“Now we’ve got two games on the trot and home, if we can win them, hopefully it’ll give us a boost going into the away game at Hull.”
Adding to his comments about recent results, the captain continued: “We don’t think we’ve been playing terribly badly, we’ve just not been scoring when we’ve had the opportunities and then conceding at bad times in games.
“It’ll hopefully turn for us but it’ll be good if we can get the two wins over the next few days and really boost our confidence.”
And as for tonight’s test in hand and the much hyped return to England for Steve McClaren, the big defender said: “Things didn’t go so well for him with England and he’s probably rebuilding his career with Twente.
“They had a tough game in the Champions League against Arsenal, but I think they’ll be a tough side to beat, and they won their first group game.
“I think they’re quite a young side too, so they’ll enjoy coming to our stadium and putting on a performance against what is now classed as a really big club around Europe, so it’s going to be a really tough test for us.”
