Dunnie thanks the fans

Richard Dunne has thanked City's travelling support for their noisy and passionate backing during Thursday's win over Schalke 04 in the UEFA Cup.

2,800 supporters made the trip to Gelsenkirchen, and at times they were easily out-singing the home side's following, something the skipper says the entire City team appreciated.

"Our fans were brilliant. For them to be heard in a crowd of 54,000 really inspired everyone.

"It was a great night, but a great night for them to come to a European city and see their team win, I'm glad we made a long & difficult trip worth it for them."

Turning to the game, which sees City top Group A with a maximum return of six points from two matches, Richard added:

"The whole team worked really hard, we knew we would have to concede space but the midfield closed them down well in the final third and we deserved the win in the end.

"Most of us have not been in Europe before, and we are really enjoying the experience. We played like a team that has played at this level before, and having Didi in there settles us down and helps the team out.

"Sunday is one that we are really looking forward to, we have had two good results this week and we want to finish it off now."
