Hard work key for Hamann

City have got to work hard and not let their heads drop as they look to next Sunday's trip to Hull, according to Didi Hamann.

The midfielder played for the majority of Sunday's defeat to Spurs after coming on as a replacement for Darius Vassell following the sending-off of Gelson Fernandes. The Swiss player's dismissal, and that of Richard Dunne, means that City have reduced options for their first Premier League visit to Humberside.

But Didi thinks there were encouraging signs in Sunday's performance, and he is urging his team mates to stick together and turn recent results around.

Didi says, "I said after Newcastle that if you work hard, play as a team you will get the good results. If you don't, it will be disappointing, and that still applies now. In the last two or three games we did not play well enough to win or defend well enough as a team. It was a different story against Spurs, we did everything we could have done to get something out of it, but it was not to be.

"If we keep playing as we know we can then we should be OK, but in the Premier League you cannot take any games for granted. Next week we go to Hull, they had a good start but have lost the last two or three, but they have 20 points so that won’t be easy.

"We need to play as a team and defend well, given all our attacking options we can always score so if we do that we will be fine. We just have to keep our heads up, stick together and things will get better."
