The Tigers rose as high as third after some fine results in the first couple of months of life in the Premier League, including a famous win over Arsenal away from home, but in recent weeks they, like City, have tasted defeat in three consecutive games.
Looking forward to our first league visit to the KC Stadium, Mark says: "In most seasons you will get one of the promoted sides that gets off to a great start, and Hull have been buoyed by the fact that they are in the Premier League, something they have strived to get to for years. That's a fantastic time for any club, and as a consequence the start of a season can be a great thing for a club.
"The key to it is when the cold, dark nights start to draw in and you start to come up against the top clubs, like Hull have of late. But you have to say that Hull have done fantastically well, it looks like a well-run club. The manager has a lot of experience in the Premier League from working as an assistant and he knows what is required.
"They have done exceptionally well, but it's up to us to ask more questions of them. They are a tight unit, played with a lot of and no little skill either. That's why they have got points on the board so far, but they have stumbled a bit of late but that can happen given the quality of opposition faced every week. It will be a difficult game for us, they want to get back to winning ways but we need to do that as well. It's a good match-up and we are looking forward to it.
"The quality of the Premier League is there for all to see and it's difficult going up against the top clubs. They'll be enjoying it and they will see us as another high-profile team that they would love to overcome, but we'll have something to say about it."
