Important information for those travelling to Schalke

The Club have received the following information for supporters from our German hosts ahead of next week’s UEFA Cup trip to Gelsenkirchen to play FC Schalke 04...

The City of Gelsenkirchen, FC Schalke 04 and the local police would like to wish you a very warm welcome to the VELTINS-Arena in Gelsenkirchen for the UEFA Cup game.

In the interests of co-operation and to ensure you enjoy your visit to the VELTINS-Arena, please note the following information and code of conduct.

• Before the game the best place to spend your time is in the northern part of the city, in Gelsenkirchen–Buer, from there it is the safest and fastest way to the stadium.
  
  
• Please leave your buses and cars at the guarded visitor’s parking space E at the Willy–Brandt Alley. From there you can take the tram No.302 to Gelsenkirchen–Buer, which takes only a few minutes.
  
  
• The stadium opens at 16:30pm local time – kick-off is 7pm local time (6pm UK time).
  
  
• The VELTINS-Arena has its own currency (1 euro = 1 Knappe). Inside the Arena you can only make purchases using the "Knappenkarte" smart card. Please don’t forget to change some money at the relevant stands inside the Arena beforehand. You can cash the card back in again after the match.
  
  
• Any person clearly under the influence of alcohol will not be admitted to the VELTINS-Arena.
  
  
• You will be searched by stewards before you enter the VELTINS-Arena. Any items considered dangerous will be confiscated.
  
  
• It is an offence to carry firearms, knives and flares etc, as is the throwing of objects onto the pitch or at other people. Please ensure your conduct does not leave the police with no option but to take action against you.
  
  
• Always follow the instructions of police and stewards and in the event of violence breaking out the police will intervene.
  
  
• Please sit in the seat allocated to you on your ticket and remain in the areas reserved for your fans and do not allow yourself to be provoked.
  
  
• Please be prepared to wait some more minutes in your fan area after the game, just to guarantee your own safety.
  
  
• A Shuttle-Service will take you to the main station in Gelsenkirchen after the game.
