Manchester United left back Patrice Evra has said that the team do not even talk about their city rivals Manchester City in the dressing room , and insist that no feathers have been ruffled by the new influx of money at the City of Manchester Stadium.
City have proved that they are now a force to be reckoned with in the transfer market with the deadline day purchase of Robinho for a British record £32.5m from Real Madrid.
However, Evra has claimed that the Premier League and Champions League holders are not concerned with their main rivals activities.
Speaking to L'Equipe magazine, Evra said, "We don't speak very much about City in the dressing room.
"I haven't heard anybody say: 'Oh la la. From now on, they are the richest club in the world'. Us, we know our history."
Evra has unhappy memories of playing against Man City, with his first ever game for United coming against City two years ago. He was sick before the game suffering from some pasta he had eaten at lunchtime before kick off and took a battering from City winger Trevor Sinclair, in a match that United lost 3-1.
"For me, it is a peculiar thing with City - it was my first match in the Premier League," continued the French defender.
"It was my biggest feeling since I arrived here. I remember getting a stud in the eye. We lost 3-1. Ferguson brought me off at half-time, saying to me, 'Patrice, go and watch the match, and learn about English football'.
"It is a true derby, especially for the fans. City are five minutes from our training ground. We can sense them."
