SWP & Robinho win player of month awards

The impact of two of City’s recent high-profile transfers is reflected in the latest Thomas Cook Player of the Month awards.

Shaun Wright-Phillips was an immediate hit after his sensational return to the club in late August, bagging two goals in his first match, at Sunderland, another in the rout of Portsmouth and turning in some influential performances as he became a first-choice pick for Mark Hughes.

SWP scoops the award for September, and the October gong is handed to Robinho. The Brazilian, who arrived at the very end of the summer transfer window, has been in sensational form and has seven goals to his name so far, including a hat-trick against Stoke.

Defender Clayton MacDonald takes the reserve award, while Alex Nimely-Tchuimeni and Dedryck Boyata are rewarded for their parts in the Under 18 side’s unbeaten start to the season with Academy player of the month awards.
