The mega-rich Blues are reportedly lining up a £10million move for the German international striker, but Bayern Munich general manager Uli Hoeness has ruled out a January sale.
"It is impossible to find the right striker who is capable of playing in the UEFA Champions League," Hoeness told L'Equipe. "Podolski could go next summer but he will not leave us in the winter."
Mark Hughes is expected to make his big striker signing in the shape of former Bayern star Roque Santa Cruz, who he brought to Blackburn Rovers last summer.
