Manchester City are prepared to pay £18million for the Paraguayan striker in the New Year, but the new manager at Ewood Park insists he will not be selling any of his star players.
"We don't have to sell anyone in the January transfer window. I think it is very important from my point of view," said Allardyce. "I have joined the club because I know the players.
"I know how good the players are here and it is one of the reasons I am here so why would I want to sell any of my best ones. I'm not going to do that."
