could have the chance to get back into form as Mark Hughes considers
his team selection options for tonight's UEFA Cup clash with Paris St
Germain.
Two of the Brazilian striker's three goals came in City's
2-1 win over AC Omonia and with injuries restricting his options, the
Blues boss says the game could present Jo with a chance to impress.
Of
Jo, Mark says: "He's a young player that has come into a league that's
a lot stronger than what he was used to. It takes time to settle in,
and I think it is harder for forward players acquit themselves
straightaway.
"Robinho has, but he's a more experienced player to
begin with. Jo has found it a bit of a struggle but he is working hard
in training and trying to do the right things. He's a young player with
potential, as we knew when he came, but he will get better. In certain
games I have had other options that I have decided to go with but he is
still a big part of what we are doing here.
"A lot of players
will come into my thinking, so there will be changes with the injuries
to consider as well. We will look to utilise the squad, it's been a
busy and quite difficult 10 days so I was wanting to give some respite
to some of our key players."
Tonight's game follows hot on the
heels of Sunday's derby and just a couple of days ahead of the Barclays
Premier League clash at Craven Cottage, the kind of busy schedule the
Manager says the squad should embrace.
"It's different from what
the players have had in the past, and an experience for them. This is a
young side, in both age and experience, but they need to get used to it
because if we are going to be successful this is what you will face
every week. Rising to this sort of a challenge is important, so the
experience we gain now will help us in the future."
