Cook reveals City vision Executive chairman eyes bright future

Executive chairman Garry Cook has predicted that Manchester City will be one of the biggest clubs in the world within the next decade.

City have made a poor start to their Premier League campaign and are currently just outside the relegation zone.

However, they have the financial backing of the Abu Dhabi United Group and are expected to bring in several top players in January.

Cook feels City will soon be able to attract the most famous names in the world to the club and does not believe it will be long before they become a major force.

"I know this club will be one of the biggest clubs in the world in 10 years' time - I have no doubts about that," he said.

"But you can't do that with the flick of a switch. You have to do things over a period of time.

"Over the next few years you will see footballers that are world superstars start to want to be at Manchester City."

Cook added that he was not concerned about City's current position, with the focus on a long-term project.

He explained: "I think we are going to step through some challenges, some twists and turns along the way, but ultimately everyone in this football club - including the owners - believes the next 10 years and the vision for the next 10 years is the most important part.

"Worrying about a result over the last two or three weeks, while it is disheartening and not to plan, is not the thing we are going to live or die by."
