Speculation surrounding West Ham United striker Craig Bellamy’s future continues apace, with Manchester City the latest club to be linked with a move for the Welshman.
The Hammers’ off-field problems have been well documented and it has been reported that the club may need to sell players in the January transfer window in order to raise funds.
Since arriving from Liverpool last year the Welshman has suffered an injury-interrupted career at Upton Park and manager Gianfranco Zola, whilst reluctant, may be willing to allow the striker to leave the club.
The Daily Mail reports that Manchester City are interesting in signing the much-travelled forward and are considering making West Ham a £7 million bid.
Of course, City boss Mark Hughes has managed the striker before - during their time together at Blackburn Rovers and as manager of Wales - and appears keen to work with Bellamy again.
The 29-year-old has had his fair share of clubs during his time in the game. Having started out at Norwich City, he has enjoyed spells with Coventry City, Newcastle United, Celtic, Blackburn Rovers and Liverpool, before moving to East London last year.
Yet Bellamy has managed only two Premier League goals this season and Zola’s side have struggled. However, he was on target last weekend as the Hammers drew 1-1 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and his experience has been vital.
The Welshman earlier this week denied speculation that he would return to Celtic and appears happy at the Irons, although it remains to be seen whether West Ham would be able to resist a decent offer for the player.
