Ecuadorian striker Felipe Caicedo arrived in Manchester last January being described as the 'new Adriano'. However, City have limited him to a few goalless substitute appearances during his first half-season in the Premier League.
This season brought with it uncertain winds as far as the 20-year-old was concerned, with City having splashed out on yet more top-class attackers in the summer.
Now, the January transfer market could bring yet more threats; the richest club in the world have been linked with a slew of strikers.
However, Caicedo picked a good time to finally show what he's about, scoring a brace on Boxing Day to spark the Citizens' rout of Hull City. He'd also netted one in the defeat at Racing Santander.
Thus, even though January could bring more career threats, the former Basle forward is feeling good.
He told City's official website: "I am really happy, as it has been a hard year for me. I knew could make it into the first team here, but I have had to be patient.
"My team-mates have been very supportive of me, and I could not have got my goals without their help. The manager and the coaches have also shown faith in me, so I wanted to show everyone what I could do when picked.
"There are some good strikers here, but I hope to keep my place in the team."
