Hughes looks set to make changes to the side for Wednesday night’s UEFA
Cup tie against Paris St Germain due to a couple of injuries in the
City squad.
He says, “Shaun took a knock to the ankle on Sunday and
is struggling. Robinho’s ankle is sore and Micah, who came off on
Sunday, is a doubt as well. Gelson is still out for another week or so.
“On the longer term front, Kelvin Etuhu & Michael Johnson are both two weeks away from being back with us.”
According
to the Manager, changes for the visit of Paul le Guen’s side would have
been on the cards in an ideal word, but fitness issues combined with
the Barclays Premier League game at Craven Cottage this Saturday have
forced his hand.
“Changes are being forced upon me, but it was
always on my mind that I would look at this game and hopefully be in a
position to rest some players that have had a big workload in recent
weeks. That’s still the case, but winning the group is important to us.”
