Kompany hoping for a happy Christmas

Vincent
Kompany is looking for City to quickly get back to winning ways ahead
of tomorrow’s Barclays Premier League trip to face West Bromwich Albion.

The
Hawthorns’ clash starts a busy Christmas period of games with City in
action three times within a week but the former Hamburg man is ready
for his first taste of festive football.

“I think it’s a big
challenge and we’ve still got a couple of games before January and we
can still prove that this team is a good team," he told us.

“The
results don’t always reflect the quality of the team and I really think
that the next Premier League game will be a big challenge for us.

“I’m
confident and will definitely be one of the players who will try to
make sure that next game we decide it in our advantage.”

Despite
his young years, the 22-year-old knows the importance of being able to
string a set of wins together at any stage of the league campaign, as
he added: “We are looking for two or three wins in a row and that in
this league can make you have a terrific bounce forward.

“If we
are lucky to win our next game it is important to win the game
afterwards as well. I’m searching to put wins in a row and my
experience says that anything is possible when you get on a winning
streak.”

Playing competitive football over the festive period is
something alien to Vincent having previously enjoying winter breaks in
both Germany and Belgium so does he know what to expect?

“It will
be my first time that I’m going to be playing football at Christmas and
New Year, so I’m not sure, but the biggest present I would like to give
to the City fans is to win every single game in that period. Then by
that time, if my family can come by, I’ll be happy.”

As one of
the Blues’ best performers of the season so far the midfielder also
admitted that he’s taken to England and life at City very well and it
will feel even better once the wins start adding up.

He said: “It
wasn’t too difficult to settle in, I work for the team and for the
group, they are all great personalities and I have many friends in the
team already so that makes it easier to settle.

“I’m trying to
work harder and harder every game and so far I think it’s appreciated
by my team mates and that’s the most important thing. I know everything
as connected to the winning so when we start winning again that’ll make
me really happy.”
