Manchester City are reportedly keeping tabs on Villarreal goalkeeper Diego Lopez, and had representatives present for the Yellow Submarine's Liga encounter with Barcelona last night.
Lopez has attracted plaudits for his standout performances in the Villarreal goal this season, ever since dislodging Sebastian Viera as the club's number one.
The 26-year-old is a product of the Real Madrid youth system, but only rose to prominence following a move away from the Bernabeu.
Ranked as among the best in Spain, the custodian is under contract at el Madrigal until 2014, but has a buyout clause of around €30 million inserted in his current deal.
Such a price is unlikely to deter cash-rich Manchester City, who are determined to secure a netminder in the upcoming transfer window.
The club's form has seen them slump into the relegation places, and they have recently been linked with an astronomical bid for Gianluigi Buffon of Juventus.
