The England international has emerged as one of the most sought after players in the Premier League, with Liverpool making a much-publicised bid to sign him during the summer.
That offer was doomed to failure as the Reds refused to meet the £18million asking price, but Aston Villa are expecting the Anfield club, and Chelsea, to show interest again in the New Year.
As if that isn’t worrying enough for Martin O’Neill, reports in The People suggest mega-rich City are willing to meet the asking price of £18million and pay Barry a staggering £175,000-per-week.
