Gianluigi Buffon has long been regarded as the best goalkeeper in the world and according to a report in the British tabloid the Daily Mail, he could soon be plying his trady in the Premier League.
Mega-rich Manchester City, who seem to have been linked with every world-class player in football, are apparently ready to offer Juventus €22.5 million to bring him to Eastlands.
The Old Lady signed the Italian international from Parma in 2001 for a reported fee of €52 million, and while they may be reluctant to part with such a talented player it is thought that they could struggle to turn down the money on offer for a 30-year-old.
It is also questionable as to whether Buffon himself would actually leave the Turin-based outfit, as he decided to remain with the club when they were relegated following the 'Calciopoli' scandal.
But Buffon is attributed as recently stating: "If a club is willing to pay that much for you, I will tell my agents to make the deal happen.
"With that money Juve can go and a buy a team full of champions of their own."
Should the Carrara-born shot-stopper decide to jet-in at Manchester, the Citizens are believed to be offering a €280,000-a-week contract, which would see him earn around €100,000-a-week more than Robinho who is thought to be the Premier League's highest earner at present.
