The France international has become one of the most sought after players in the Premier League, following his bargain £5million move to Portsmouth from Arsenal last January.
Diarra has made no secret of his desire to eventually leave Fratton Park for a bigger club, and whilst he is currently happy on the South Coast, his opportunity could be just around the corner.
Not only are mega-rich City willing to pay £20million to land the 23-year-old when the transfer window reopens, but Juande Ramos is set to match this fee in a bid to take him to the Bernabeu.
