Report: Ashton Wanted By Aston Villa, Tottenham & Manchester City

According to a report in the British tabloid the Sun, Premier League trio Manchester City, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur are all eyeing a £10 million move for West Ham United's Dean Ashton.

The Irons are thought to be experiencing financial difficulty and may have to sell some of their top players in order to balance the books.

England international forward Dean Ashton is rated as one of the most lethal goal-scorers in English football and is attracting plenty of interest, despite injury problems.

The 25-year-old is certainly no stranger to the treatment table, having missed the entire 2006/07 season with a broken ankle.

The former Norwich City and Crewe Alexandra striker has only made four league appearances this season as he has been out of action since September after picking up an ankle injury.

However, West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola is confident that Ashton will be back in action soon, stating: "Dean is in rehab and seeing his physio.

"He’s doing very well but I don’t how long he will be out for. Hopefully it’ll be the very beginning of the New Year."

These quotes have sparked rumours that the Hammers will receive plenty of enquiries as to the availability of the forward, who has two goals to his name this season despite his limited number of appearances.

Zola has denied speculation claiming that he will be forced to sell his key players, but rumours persist that the likes of Ashton, Craig Bellamy, Matthew Upson and Robert Green could depart Upton Park in January.
