Santa Cruz To Man City, McCarthy To Follow?

Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce could be searching for new players as strike duo Roque Santa Cruz and Benni McCarthy could reportedly leave in the January transfer window.

The future of Paraguay international Santa Cruz has been surrounded by speculation since the summer with former Rovers boss Mark Hughes taking charge of Manchester City. The Welsh tactician had signed the classy front-man from Bayern Munich in 2007.

On the other hand, South African star McCarthy has suffered from lack of form and faced a struggle to get into the side on regular basis after enjoying a fine debut season when he arrived from Porto in 2006.

Hughes’ replacement Paul Ince failed to get the Rovers off to a good start, and was recently sacked with Allardyce roped in to rescue the Lancashire outfit from the Premiership relegation battle.

According to the Daily Mail, Allardyce already accepts Santa Cruz will be sold to Manchester City if, as expected, they lodge a £20million bid next month.

The report also claims that the former Bolton Wanderers and Newcastle manager will need two new strikers, with McCarthy set to call time on his two-and-a-half-year stay at Ewood Park.
