The Brazilian is out of favour under Mark Hughes at Eastlands, and following speculation over a move to the Italian capital, the trainer of his former club Shakhtar Donetsk has told him to go for it.
"I spoke with him four days ago and he asked me about Lazio," Carlo Nicolini told Teleradiostereo.
“I recommended he consider this possibility."
“In my opinion, if he were to leave Manchester, he would go to Rome."
