Sam digs his heels in

It's
a Rovers-related special today, with their new boss digging his heels
in over their star striker, and rumours of other moves between CoMS
& Ewood Park.

"Big Sam: Get claws off Santa"

SAM ALLARDYCE claims not even moneybags Manchester City could make a big enough bid to prise Roque Santa Cruz from Blackburn.

City are poised for a £20million swoop for the Paraguay striker next month.

But new Rovers boss Big Sam is digging his heels in.

Allardyce said: “My feeling is nobody will offer enough money for us to consider selling him.

“Any
amount of money is no good to me because there isn’t any amount of
players I could spend it on to make Blackburn better than we already
are.

“We haven’t had a bid and I hope we don’t get one and that Roque comes back fit and starts scoring goals again.

“The January window can be important to me but it’s not as important as the players who are already here.”

Allardyce read Santa Cruz the riot act after the 27-year-old gave a radio interview hinting he wanted to quit Ewood Park.

Big Sam added: “Roque did an interview he shouldn’t have done and I told him I thought it was really poor timing.

“But I’ve also told him I don’t want him to leave.”

Allardyce has released former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler.

"Blackburn want Manchester City misfit Tal Ben Haim"

Sam Allardyce is set to launch a £3million raid for Manchester City defender Tal Ben Haim.

The
Israeli, who will be allowed to leave Eastlands in January, has failed
to settle at the club since his £5m switch from Chelsea last summer.

Rovers defenders Chris Samba and Stephen Warnock have been linked with moves - City lead the chase for the duo.

The papers reckon Elano could be on his way out, but on the incomings front Kolo Toure is emerging as a target

Daily Mirror

"Mark Hughes to sell Elano after fall out"

Elano has been axed by Mark Hughes over suspicions he is trying to get the Manchester City boss sacked.

And
Jo and Tal Ben Haim could also be on their way during the transfer
window as the manager takes a tough line with his City flops.

Hughes
is determined to straighten out his under-performing squad after being
told his job is safe for now by the club’s Abu Dhabi owners and Elano
is his first victim.

Hughes’ patience with the Samba star finally
snapped when he put in a lacklustre display in training on Saturday on
the back of his woeful showing in the UEFA Cup defeat to Racing
Santander on Thursday.

The pair rowed and Hughes dropped the
£8million playmaker from his squad for the 2-1 defeat at West Brom on
Sunday, which leaves the Blues three points adrift of safety.

Hughes
and his staff became suspicious that Elano may be trying to stir up
trouble among the club’s Brazilian players when a couple of hours later
Jo rang in, claiming he couldn’t travel to the Midlands because he was
ill, even though he had been fine at training.

City had been
warned by Elano’s former coach at Shakhtar Donetsk, Romanian Mircea
Lucescu, that he can be a bad influence in the dressing room.

Lucescu
even accused Elano of trying to get him sacked by trying to unite
Shakhtar’s Brazilian players against him as his way of getting back at
him for dropping him.

This was the final straw for Hughes, who
fined Elano for criticising him earlier this season, and the former
Santos man has played his last game for City under the Welshman.

He
will offload the Brazilian international next month, either on loan or
in a permanent deal, and Lazio and Espanyol are keen on him.

Elano,
27, who rivals Nicolas Anelka when it comes to sulking, has previous
and he stopped playing for former boss Sven Goran Eriksson midway
through last season, even though the Swede was prepared to mould his
team around the temperamental star.

He copped the hump with
Hughes in his first week back for pre-season training during City’s
low-key trip to the Faroes for their UEFA Cup opener against
EB/Streymur in July.

"Toure is a target for Man City"

KOLO TOURE is a £10million target for Manchester City.

Boss Mark Hughes has made the Arsenal defender his top priority in January’s transfer window.

A City source said: “Kolo has been completely marginalised by Arsene Wenger this season.

"Mark has made no secret he rates Kolo very highly and strengthening his defence is his main priority.

“City
have been linked with a number of players but Kolo is Mark’s prime
target and he hopes a deal can be done quickly if the clubs agree a
fee.”

Ivory Coast international Toure, 27, has fallen out of
favour at the Emirates and Sparky plans to test the Gunners’ resolve
with a bid next month.

Toure has played 300 games for Arsenal and is the sole survivor from the 2004 “Invincibles” side.

Yet
he seems to have been made the fall guy for his side’s stuttering
season and is now behind William Gallas, Mikael Silvestre and Johan
Djourou in the pecking order.

Toure has even been forced into playing out of position on the flanks and his Gunners future looks in serious doubt.

Mega-rich
City are also linked with moves for Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz,
Milan superstar Kaka and Juventus keeper Gianluigi Buffon.
