Toon Under 18s saw off Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road last night by
three goals to one to set up the clash at the City of Manchester
Stadium, with the date yet to be set.
Youth Cup holders City
progressed on Wednesday night with a hard fought 1-0 victory away at
Portsmouth thanks to Dedryck Boyata's deft header just before half time.
Newcastle
are currently top of Academy Group D by two points and will be keen to
avenge the 4-3 Youth Cup Semi Final defeat they suffered at City's
hands back in 2006 after Michael Johnson's inspired performance at St
James' Park in the first leg.
With just one game outstanding in
round four, Ipswich Town v Crystal Palace this coming Tuesday, the
competition is taking shape with the potential of a couple of the
much-fancied sides knocking each other out after Liverpool won through
on penalties last night to set up a clash with Chelsea.
The other major tie of the round sees Arsenal's youngsters travel north to face a strong Sunderland side.
Full Fifth Round draw:
Ipswich Town or Crystal Palace v Watford
Liverpool v Chelsea
Sunderland AFC v Arsenal
Plymouth Argyle v Tottenham Hotspur
Everton v Norwich City
MANCHESTER CITY v Newcastle United
Nottingham Forest v Bolton Wanderers
Cardiff City v Birmingham City
