totesport.com league reserve side left it late to claim all three
points against an experienced Bury side this afternoon at the Regional
Athletics Arena.
A John Guidetti goal in stoppage time completed a
fine come-from-behind victory for the young Blues as they reversed last
week's 3-2 defeat by the Shakers.
The Blues had gone behind on 13
minutes following Efe Sodje's headed goal from a left wing corner and
things got worse after 24 minutes as Aaron Carter gave away a penalty
which Richie Baker smashed beyond Eirik Johansen to make it 2-0.
City
battled back though and just three minutes later Jack Redshaw's
fantastic run saw him end it with a cool finish to bring the team back
into it. The goal gave the Blues confidence and they ended the
first half as the better side.
The post denied City a leveller
just two minutes into the second half as Omar Elabdellaoui's corner was
flicked onto the upright. On 55 minutes, the post again came to Bury's
rescue, as Sean Tse couldn't get enough on his header to turn the ball
in.
But after 61 minutes the Blues were deservedly
level following good build up play by Adrian Cieslewicz and John
Guidetti. The latter's low cross from the right was met by Redshaw to
side foot home his second goal of the game.
Despite being on top,
City then gave away a second penalty of the game, as Matthew Brown
tripped Baker in the area. The midfielder picked himself up to take the
spot kick but could not repeat his first half feat as his penalty
struck the post and bounced off to safety.
And how Bury were
left to rue that miss as the rapid Redshaw was involved in the stoppage
time winner. He raced clear of midfield before slipping in Guidetti who
steadied himself to fire home from 15-yards and seal a fine win.
City:
Johansen, Smith, Carter, Tse, Brown (c), Paldan, Cieslewicz, Elabdellaoui, Redshaw, Guidetti, Frater (Mitchell 90).
