Mark Hughes has given the latest injury update as the Blues prepare to travel down to face Portsmouth this weekend.
And Hughes could report better news over Shaun Wright-Phillips, who came off during the first half of Saturday’s cup defeat with a hamstring problem, which initially looked like keeping the winger sidelined for at least a month.
“Shaun is likely to be out for about two to three weeks. It’s a little bit better than we first thought because it was looking like being over a month but the hope is it’ll be two to three weeks.”
And the Manager could report news of a potential South Coast debut for former Southampton full back Wayne Bridge too.
He said: “We had him in on Monday to do physical tests on him and benchmark him just to have an understanding of his physical capabilities. We’ve got that done now and he’ll be training for the rest of the week.”
Elsewhere around the squad Stephen Ireland serves a one-game suspension for accumulating five bookings and Hughes added over other injuries: “Robinho was still a little bit tight in his thigh but we’re hopeful he’ll be ok for the weekend.
“Nedum is better and hopefully after some training he won’t have any adverse reaction and he’ll be an option at the weekend as well.
“Other than the long-term injuries there’s bumps and bruises that need to resolve themselves but hopefully we’ll have a full compliment to choose from.”
