Portsmouth v Manchester City OFF

Following
a 10.15am pitch inspection at Fratton Park this morning, the Barclays
Premier League clash between Portsmouth and Manchester City has been
called off in the last few minutes by match official Mike Dean.

As
we as brought you the news yesterday that a referee had looked at the
pitch on Friday afternoon and was happy with its condition. However the
predicted thaw did not happen and temperatures at Fratton Park dipped
to minues seven overnight weather, with temperatures dipping to minus
seven has unfortunately led to the match being postponed.

Portsmouth
Chief Executive Peter Storrie said: "We've had heaters on the pitch for
most of the week but unfortunately some frost got in down the middle of
the pitch and that's where the problem is.

"We wanted the game on today because we've got key players back and they've got key players missing."

mcfc.co.uk will advise in due course of a new date for the fixture.
