Goal.com reported earlier this week that Manchester City were lining up a bid for SV Hamburger's Dutch international midfielder. Yesterday, the Citizens made their bid, believed to be in the region of £15 million, and now the ball is very much in the 24-year-old's court.
"I will now start to consider the issue myself and find out what is best for me, but there are still two weeks to go this month," De Jong told local reporters.
"Nobody does know actually what will happen until then."
De Jong is an established Dutch international who featured prominently for Holland in their entertaining progress through Euro 2008, playing a solid role at the heart of De Oranje midfield with Orlando Engelaar.
Crucially for City, De Jong also enjoyed a productive partnership with Vincent Kompany whilst at Hamburg. The Belgian has been one of the few defensive highlights in what has been a turbulent season so far for City, and his linking up once more with the Dutchman may help provide some solidity in the heart of City's midfield.
