Dream of a day for Christie trio

PATIENTS from the Christie Hospital enjoyed a morning to remember when they met their heroes and watched them being put through their paces at the Carrington training complex this week.

 True Blue fans Jen Bayley, Chris Taylor and Martin Cox were guests of the club on a special day out that started with a warm welcome from manager Mark Hughes and included a long chat and autographs with the whole senior squad.

 Lorraine Case, youth support co-ordinator at Christie's, said: "They had a brilliant time. They're all big Blues and so they were really excited about the visit, and every player came up for a chat after they'd finished training.
 
 "Stephen Ireland and Shay Given made a particularly big impression. They got their shirts autographed and by the time we left at lunchtime they were made up."

  Jen, 21, and Martin, 18, are being treated for leukaemia and Chris, 19, for a bone tumour at the world-renowned hospital.

  Lorraine added: "Mark was lovely. He came out to say hello and welcome and had another chat later. The trip meant a lot to the three of them."
