Shaun banned for three games

Shaun Wright-Phillips has been suspended for three league games after being found guilty of violent conduct by the FA.

The City midfielder was charged after an incident that saw Stoke’s Rory Delap sent off at the Britannia Stadium on January 31st.

The
incident was not seen by referee Martin Atkinson. Having watched video
footage of the incident, Atkinson has informed The FA that, had he seen
it at the time, he would have shown Wright-Phillips a red card for
violent conduct.

His ban comes into immediate effect, and he will
miss the games against Portsmouth, Liverpool and West Ham United. He
will be eligible for the Aston Villa game, but the ban does not cover
our forthcoming UEFA Cup tie against FC Copenhagen.
