what the papers say

Joe not sulking

Joe Hart pledges to fight for his place, while we get a mention in Olly Hoult's opinion piece.

The Sun

"Joe Given an England setback"

JOE HART admits his England ambitions have been damaged by the arrival of Shay Given at Manchester City.

The keeper has not played since Given’s £8million move from Newcastle earlier this month.

Hart, 21, won his only senior cap as a substitute in the 3-0 friendly win over Trinidad & Tobago last June.

And he said: “I need to play first-team football if I want to play for England.

“I haven’t lost my job — I have just lost my place in the team.

“There’s no point in sulking or being any other way about it.”

Daily Mirror

"The biggest threat to..."

... the completion of David Beckham's permanent move from the LA Galaxy to AC Milan is simply this: Milan are skint. Why else do you think they were so desperate to snatch Manchester City's hands off when they bid £100m for Kaka.
