Manchester City Are A Small Club – Sir Alex Ferguson

The United boss has continued his assault on his neighbours by insisting that they operate in the giant shadow of his club...
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has issued a withering assessment of Manchester City, branding them “a small club”.

The Citizens have enjoyed a headline-making summer, spending big on the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Roque Santa Cruz and Gareth Barry, whilst also tempting Carlos Tevez away from United.

The Sky Blues also appear to have angered the United boss with a poster featuring Carlos Tevez, which appears with the slogan ‘Welcome to Manchester’.

However, Sir Alex has now responded to City’s actions and, speaking to the BBC, he has let his true feelings be known.

“It's City isn't it? They're a small club with a small mentality,” he said.

“All they can talk about is Manchester United; they can't get away from it.

"They think taking Carlos Tevez away from Manchester United is a triumph. It is poor stuff,” stated the clearly irritated Reds boss.

Sir Alex, who also revealed he was offered Emmanuel Adebayor before he moved to City, insisted he knew exactly why players were moving to Eastlands.

"When someone offers you that kind of money, it is a big attraction," he added.

“That is the reason they have gone there.”

Wine buff Ferguson has rarely been so fractious, but nobody said anything about sour grapes.
